late homework By Cheryl

I send a weekly homework packet, with an assignment for each night Monday - Thursday, plus 20 min. nightly reading. I check in homework each day, but do not count it late unless it is not in by the following Monday, so students| actually have a week to complete the packet. Most complete homework each night, unless they have activities. They know that anything we studied during the week could be on the FRiday quiz. On the Friday weekly report I write down any assignments not completed so the parents know these must be done over the weekend. On Monday I put a sticker on their chart for daily work completed | | on time, homework completed on time, with an extra sticker for something random, like weekly report signed by parents and turned in, or planner check, etc. They can earn 3 to 4 stickers a week. When they have 5 in a row they earn an incentive, and once each grading period I have a pizza party for everyone that has no more than 3 zeroes. First party had 9 people (out of 27), second and third usually have 15-20. I tried Homeworkopoly but it was too time consuming for me so I went back to this plan. We are also starting Fun Friday, where in the last hour of the day students with all work completed go to one room for an activity and those with incomplete work go to a room for study hall.
