first impressions
By martha

Clip to ScrapBook
The impression that you make the first week will set the tone for the remainder of the sememster. With that in mind, have high expectations for yourself and for the students that you'll be working with. You are now officially
"an adult." (even if you don't totally feel that way, the kids will look to you as an adult) Spend this week gathering old photos of you, your home, your family, pets, friends, maybe an old school picture from when you were in that grade etc. to use for making a bulletin board in the classroom. Write a short bio. about yourself, including what subjects you've liked as a student,
sports or hobbies you're involved in, favorite books or movies. The kids will really enjoy it. If you're teaching intermediate level (3-6th), you could also give them a short questionnaire to complete about themselves so that you can get to know them, too. Enjoy your student teaching experience!
