American schools are vapid wastelands... By sue d.

Ben, I love my teaching (8th year now) and my classes. I enjoy the spark of learning and have always pushed the limits of the state requirements in curriculum (much to the parents' delight). The kids are like sponges and usually adjust to the higher standards with enthusiasm. I have been disappointed through the years by my COWORKERS. I thought I would be surrounded by intellectuals interested in being "life-long learners." I hear many using incorrect English grammar, complaining about having to learn new technology, and negatively harping on having "smarty-pants" kids who correct them in class. They don't read the papers, books, or keep up on current professional trends. What's the deal?
