crying
By jaye

Clip to ScrapBook
I am a second grade teacher. the little ones cry for many reasons: their feelings may have been hurt as they are super sensitive, they may be frustrated, tired, hungry, etc, etc!
What I do is simply create a star chart.
each child's name is listed down the left side. After all names there is a horizontal line. I cover sheet with laminate, and each time a child makes ANY new learning success or TRY I put a star on the chart with a dry erase marker. In second grade, EVERY CHILD should meet with success and go home happy. Prizes/awards are often used when a child is on task: pencil, erasor, clay pack, etc.
I shop at Oriental Trading on line and for $10.00, I can reward many children for a couple of months. Try it! Let me know if the crying subsides. good luck! Jaye
