I posted a list for you on the busyboard a while back (page three now). I don't know if you didn't see it or it wasn't what you were looking for, but just in case, I am copying my last post below. Hope it helps...........

You
stated that you wanted them to send in items from home (I took that as not purchased items) so here goes my list......
*newspapers(use lots of ways)
*magazines(cutting words, pictures)
*hangers(plastic-to make mobiles)
*tops and lids to containers(to sort, categorize)
*shoe boxes (for dioramas)
*empty food boxes (use for cereal book ad project, reading labels,
etc.)
*toilet/paper towel rolls (for craft projects)
*scoops from powder detergent
*old telephone books
*old cookbooks

Here are some inexpensive things I bought.....

*word tiles (at Wal-Mart)
*placemats (from Wal-Mart that has money, maps, presidents, handwriting, multiplication, etc.)
*Dry erase markers and lap dry erase boards
*colored plastic chips(from Wal-Mart..you can write numbers or letters are whatever on them, use them as counters, etc.)
*flash cards
