Diane,
I had my second baby last Spring. I worked full time with my first son but I was always exhausted and stressed. When I found out I was pregnant with my second son (there is a six year difference) I decided things
needed to change. I wanted to enjoy life rather than feeling like I was on a treadmill all the time. My school district decided to let me work part time and job share with another teacher. I love it. I work mornings teaching kindergarten and am able to be home by noon. I have quiet time to plan while my son is napping and my older son is in school. Evenings I relax, exercise and
enjoy my family. I am happy, relaxed, and balanced. My children and the children at school are benefiting because I have more enery, and more time to plan creative lessons. I have decided to work part time another year and am very excited about the opportunity. Parents have been very positive about the job share. All of the parents have been extremely happy with the situation. I also feel that in education, we need to support parents. My administration has been extremely supportive because they have two energetic teachers for the price of one. We are both doing above and beyond half time but the pressure is off and we are enjoying it. Good Luck with your pregnancy and your decisions. Job sharing has been a blessing for me and my family!!!
