what we use

We primarily use novels (with vocabulary and comprehension activities). We supplement with the basal from time to time, but generally don't feel it has much to offer in the way of interest, tie-ins to curriculum, appropriate vocab., reading level, etc. One of the best things our school has ever done is to invest in the Accelerated Reader program, which we use to make sure the students are getting the appropriate independent reading practice on their own level. This has been a wonderful program for us during the last few years.
