Beginning in February 2004, you will no longer need to have the video for permanent certification in NY. You will have to have 3 years of teaching experience and must have passed all the other tests (CST, LAST, ATS-W, etc.). I don't know if these changes are just for people who come in on alt. cert. programs (as I did) or are universal in NY -- you're better off seeing the changes for yourself at nysed.gov.

I've been putting off the video, too ... and now I can forget about it altogether, since my provisional cert. will NOT expire before the new requirements take effect. YMMV.
