being cold
By Peg

Clip to ScrapBook
Hi Cold Teacher! My class and I suffered the exact same fate for a few years. After seeking help from the Principal and maintenance people, and not receiving any, I took a more aggressive approach. I told my principal it
was unbearable and touched his arm with my ice cold hand. I then asked if we could move into the cafeteria, and he allowed it. (Probably so I wouldn't touch him again!)I wrote a note home to parents explaining that our room was far too cold, so if they were looking for their child they could find them in the cafeteria until the problem was solved. I then schlepped my class down to the cafeteria
each day, which was past the office and therefore very noticeable. This did the trick. The principal could not ignore my problem any longer and harrassed the maintenance people until my classroom was a priority. Notifying parents and inconveniencing those in power was the key for me. Good luck getting some warmth. No one should have to freeze at work or school.
