sixth and seventh grade children could write books to read to k and 1. We had a program called book buddies where older children were paired up with younger children on various reading/writing projects. Maybe invite an author to come in, buy the self publish books for children to write in, have each grade pick a favorite story to become - call it story book school, have each classroom pick a story, create scenery, make costumes, become the story in the classroom and visit each other's 'stories'have fun with this sounds great!
