"Adjectives and Art"
By Marilyn B.

Clip to ScrapBook
You can do Illustrated Words" to combine adjectives and artwork. Give the students a list of words that lend themselves to this project, and then supply them with materials (paint, glue, feathers, etc.) to create the work.

As a prompt, ask them what could they do to certain words to make them look that way. For example, what can you do to the word "beautiful" to make it look beautiful? Maybe they'll choose certain colors, or they might make faces out of some of the letters.

I like this activity because you can use any size paper, and it's a good way for me to use up scraps or odd pieces of leftover materials. Also, it makes kids really think about what they're trying to portray, and it encourages them to be creative.
