as to the problem with mom, you said she didn't believe her little darling was ready for the responsibilities that you have laid out for the class. with second semester here, now would be a good time to do "We won't know
unless we try..." Set up a time to talk to mom re: morning routine, and set a time to discuss with her a "trial time limit" of little guy doing what he needs to,say two weeks. She sounds like a carrot and stick mom- beat over the head politely that the other kids are doing what they need to,and that you feel her son can too. Then during the two weeks, send her messages as to how well he's
doing. The carrot part can be mentioning if he can mange well without her in the mornings, you'd love to have her come in to help with special projects. Good luck!
