unbelievable!!

Ok..perhaps it's because I live in New England and not down south...but never in my life have I ever encountered paddling in school..not when I was in school..not as a teacher. It is inconceivable to me that a parent would give permission for some other person to hit their child. I certainly never would. I understand that some parents feel corporal punishment is appropriate for their child (I'm still on the fence on that one), I don't think public educators should be the ones to decide and administer that punishment. Talk about opening yourself up to liability! Sorry, I know this does not answer your question...but I was truly dumbfounded when I read the posts...I did not think this existed in today's day!!
