Wish list

I don't know what kind of school (financial-wise) you teach in. At the beginning of the year I send home a "wish list" with various items I would like for my classroom. I include items I use like post-its, pens, staples, & so on. I also include things the students use like construction paper and games. You could list the GeoSafari on there and maybe add "if you would like to contribute to purchase this for our class it would be greatly appreciated." I also send my list out again later in the year when we begin to run low on specific items. I don't know if others consider this "tacky", but it might be worth a shot. You might want to check with a teacher that has been there longer or your principal first -- just in case.
