PE subbing By Ron

Probably the most difficult class in which to sub. In regular classrooms you have a seating chart and for the most part the students are in their seats. In the PE environment, you may have up to 60 students that you may| not know, they are going in numerous dirextions, you don't have a convenient classroom policy at hand to cover drinks, restroom needs, injuries, etc. What I have found to be most effective is to go over your expectations when you take roll (a detailed note will be given to the regular teacher at the end of the day for follow up when he/she returns). To alleviate the situation of not knowing | | who is who, I take attendance at the beginning of the class for the office needs and then during the last five minutes of class, I often will take roll again. In this way, I can get the names of those people who need to singled out for my "Good, Bad and Ugly" report to the regular teacher. The first time for one particular teacher, the class was terrible. The second time for the same teacher, the class was much more manageable and responded to instructions.
