You're right. My school has gone to very scripted forms of teaching, such as guided reading and Saxon math. I prefer thematic teaching because I feel it is more interesting and makes learning more authentic. Scripted teaching bores me and the kids. It is everything that made me hate all of my school years. I don't think I can teach for many more years, but until I find something rewarding to do, I need more job satisfaction.
