grading papers
By Christy

Clip to ScrapBook
A coworker and I were just talking about this today. I just recently started having my students check work for me to save time. My students don't actually "grade" the paper though. They just circle any wrong answers and
write how many missed at the top. They don't know what the other person's grade is. I love it because it's less time consuming. The only problem I have with it is some of my students are not very careful graders. I had a parent return their child's paper with a mistake on it that had been counted as correct. So the parent thinks I'm careless or dumb, I guess. The only thing I could
say was that I didn't check the paper, which doesn't make me look much better. I haven't decided whether I want to continue doing this or not. I'm glad to see this being discussed here. I am in favor of it because it saves time and also because it allows the students to get more immediate feedback. Because if I had to grade it myself they wouldn't get it back for several days. I am really interested in seeing some other opinions.
