making Stone Soup
By Brooke

Clip to ScrapBook
I did this book with my kindergarten class a few years ago. They loved it. I did it around Thanksgiving and I was teaching about sharing and kindness also, so we made stone soup and shared it. I read the book to the students
and then each student brought up an ingredient to put in the pot (crock pot). I used canned vegetables that we already cooked and then we only had to heat it up. We then made invitations and invited two other classes to enjoy the soup with us. When the other classes got to out room, I reread the book and then we all ate the soup. The kids loved it and they learned the moral of the
story which is basically that it is best to share with others. I love doing Stone Soup.

Another thing you could do is have the students make a pot out of construction paper and glue on to a paper lunch bag. Then the students can make different vegetables and they can retell the story for their friends and family. The students would love this as well.
