Everyone would be amiss if you didn't introduce your students to the works of Kenneth Oppel. I just finished reading and studying his novel Sunwing with my grade 5/6 split. They all loved it and this book got them "re-hooked" on reading as each of them put the two sequels on their Christmas lists and are loving the adventures of Shade and his colony!
