I teach in SC. Our teachers are offered contracts in April, on tax day! They have two weeks to complete the contract and return it. After the contracts are returned and the districts count how many do not plan to return due to resignations and retirements, they begin to seriously look at hiring. I would begin to place an application in February at the district of your choice. They may interview you early and hire you early.
