Clip to ScrapBook
I find that the week after the break is always tough and I spend a lot of that time reteaching many of the procedures I have for my classroom. I have procedures for everything. When students do a procedure incorrectly,
or skip it all together, I ask them to do it again "practice". This included this week, lining up, walking in the hall, and active listening during class. With procedures that include the whole class, the whole class will "practice". This tends to help because then students remind each other for fear of practicing during recess.

I use two really great resources for this. I use Harry

Wong's First Days of School which teaches teachers how to get these procedures taught and the kids to buy into them. Even with the title, I used it mid-year and had success. Second, I use Fred Jones Positive Discipline. Both resources work well together and the kids buy into it, and we all have much better days. I belive that both have websites.

I hope this helps some, and I know how you feel. Good Luck!
