I was told this at my last school too. We couldn't give any grade lower than a 60. So even if a student just flat out refused to turn in an assignment they got a 60. What about the child who at least tried, and got a 70? What message does this send? I agree with a lot of the other posters. We baby these kids too much. You wouldn't get a paycheck for not doing the work out in the real world!
