Most all the teachers I know. By Judy

I may hear it for this but oh well. I cannot think of anyone off hand that has told me that they WANT to teach until retirement age. The other 4 teachers on my team and I plan to transfer careers. One wants out in 3 years,| the other in 2, the other in five. I will stay for another 10, the year my youngest graduates from high school. I have loved math all of my life and juggled the idea of teaching and accounting. The only reason I got into teaching was for my children. I wanted to work but also wanted to be able to do my most important job, parenting, also. I decided on teaching mainly so I could be | | home with my children at night and during the summer. My principal is laid back on letting kids come to school on nights and off days.I am not a pat on the back person. I do a good job at teaching and will do the best I can for the next 10 years. However, I am not good at listening to parents blame me and the system for all the evils in the world. I feel that I am better, as most of you all are too, to put up with the crap of education for the little pay we get. If we were paid $10 per hour, with time and a half for overtime, teacher's pay would bankrupt the world in a year! I am just sick of being judged by the entire society that groups all teachers in a pot of people who works half the year, gets paid too much, wastes the taxpayers money, hates their child because I will not stay after school for a conference until they get off work 2 hours after I do, and should take a parents call 24 hours a day. Sorry for the rant!
