timed tests
By Rachel S.

Clip to ScrapBook
Because timed tests can be so stressful for many students (especially those who are not proficient in math), let your students time themselves while doing their basic fact problems. Each student should have their own time recording sheet, so they can try to beat their own time. This prevents comparing how many they completed with how many their classmates completed, and it allows them to work at their own pace. The recording sheet makes it easy for the student and the teacher to track progress, as the time it takes the student to complete a set of problems should decrease with more practice. Because of the need for a timer or stopwatch for each student, you may want to do this as a center.
