I love Love and Logic!
By Jen

Clip to ScrapBook
I am a substitute teacher with a few years of experience. I had just read the book about Love and Logic and was excited to try some of the ideas. I had a class for the week this week and tried some of approaches with them.
It works! The kids seemed to feel that I was on their side and that I like them. They also didn't (or couldn't) argue so much when I did give a consequence. Of course they weren't happy, but they knew why the consequence was given and that I am still on their side (using the give consequences with empathy approach). One of the best parts of the approach was that I was less stressed
than I might have been by behaviors. I didn't yell and strain my voice, the kids knew that I mean what I say, and I didn't feel guilty or like "the mean guy" because the kids still see me as being on thier side. I am looking forward to applying the principals of Love and Logic in my classroom.
