You could ask each student to write a short message (or draw a picture-for the younger students) of what they will miss most about the principal or why the principal was special to them. If your principal is a good sport| you could have a modified "roast" where faculty members tell funny stories or situations that have happened at school involving the principal. I think asking former colleagues or even former students to share memories during the event would be most appropriate. As for a gift, find out what her interests are. Stay away from school-themed gifts! What is she going to do when she retires? Find | | out and go with that idea. Gardening, travel, whatever, you can come up with some gift that will complement what her future interests are. Good luck! Jennie
