calendar By Heidi

I teach all grades, but what I do with my word problem is post it on the calendar. They have until 3:00 to solve it and if they do, they get a "frog" which is like money in my classroom. (they use their money to buy prizes) Five minutes before school is out, we go over the problem and hand out "frogs" to those that were correct. We discuss how to solve the problem and look for clue words also.

I also have an envelope and piles of paper by the calendar. They do their work on the paper and slip their answer into the envelope.
