I have to agree with your principal! I personally do not give any grade below a 50 on anything! It is VERY hard for a child to have any hope when they receive such a low score such as 20 or 30. If a student did get a 30 and a 100, they still have a 65/F. How fair is that?? My principal also agrees with this and has strongly suggested this to teachers who were giving such low grades. I have a student that won't try to do better so he gets the 50. It is still the F he deserves, but it doesn't put him in such a hole if he did try to improve. Just my thoughts.
