Modifications
By Brenda

Clip to ScrapBook
Sorry, I think your modifications got side swiped by "bored" students...so I'm going to try to take it from the child's side. SPED was designed for kids that need additional support in order for them to be their best. Modifications
try to make kids more like their peers. It's not trying to turn them into superstars or put them ahead of the others- just on more of an equal playing field. For some kids adaptations/modifications are the only help they get. I once heard it explained in a way that really made sense. A teacher didn't want to give special rewards, stickers, privilages etc. to a child for doing
their work stating "it just wasn't fair to the other kids." IF life would be fair to all- then no one could eat breakfast when one still comes to school hungry, and everyone should be called studpid at least once a day or everyone should get graded on material that is 2 grades too difficult for them. Now that would be fair to everyone. I think it's easier to use the positive reinforcement...if we want to make it fair.
