Sing it instead
By Suzie

Clip to ScrapBook
That method sounds a bit odd to me!!

Teach the alphabet and sounds at the same time, and sing it to a familiar tune if you can!
I made up a large book with illustrations of the following and I sing with the kids as I teach and point to the words... for example:

"ants on the apple, a a a"
"balls are bouncing, b, b, b"
"caterpillars coughing, c, c, c" ETC

My class loves this.
