Not your part of the country but...

Right now the Anchorage school district is experiencing a teacher shortage. Actually, there are applicants but very few qualified applicants. Huge retirement buyout last year after several years of lowered class sizes and lots of retirees (our boom years in the early 80s mean lots of teachers are hitting their 20years). In fact, many people finally got on this year, despite trying for years. IF you are good you are needed, K-12 regular and special ed. Of course our pay is now about average (esp. when you add in the cost of living). Go to
