MA, another good idea is giving the child BLACK card board (but i think in the USA you call it poster board)

Chln use pencils to draw on the black posterboard. The lightern the pencil colour, eg white, yellow, the better
it looks on the black.

I did this with my Yr 4 grade and as we are in Australia we followed the Traditional Aborginal artwork of using symbols to represent things. Thd chld had to make a representation of thier own journey to a place only using symbols, but we based it on a modern theme.

The chln were not allowed to write words but only draw pictures to represent. (eg.if the wanted

to show Mc Donalds they had to draw a hamburger.)

Using sharp pencils of light colours or even metalic coloured penicls worked the best


i hope you can adopt these to suit your cultures and needs.
