chart
By Brooke

Clip to ScrapBook
I worked in an after school program several years ago and I created a chart in order to track the children's behavior. Each week all the children started with four smiley faces on the chart. If the child had 3out of 4 smiley
faces on Friday then they would get a treat. I went to fast food places and got food certificates, icecream stores, bought cheap toys, etc. to put in the treasure chest. The children only got a treat on Friday. The children lost smiley faces for not following directions, disrupting others, arguing, etc. Some negative behaviors resulted in a total loss of all smiley faces for the
week. One of those was fighting or using cuss words. This system worked pretty well and I had a pretty good response. You could also write," Let's have a treat!", on a piece of paper and each day that no one loses a smiley face you move a clothes pin over one letter. When they get to the end of the sentence the class will have a treat. Examples of treats could be: popcorn party, icecream, make a sundae, etc. Hope these ideas work.
