Clip to ScrapBook
New to this site, but 20+ years teaching K-1. I have finally found something that works for me in 90% of these cases.
I tell the children involved that they will sit out, but how long they sit, depends on them. When
they can come to me and tell me they can play as friends, they can get up. I also tell them that I do not want to know what they say to each other, or what agreement they have made, only that they can play as friends. Of course, I seat them within eyesight and it's even more fun if they think I can't hear them, but I can. They can be very creative. Even if they "conspire" to pretend to
be friends in order to "fool" me, they have actually made an agreement and in these cases have a kind of bond that they see as keeping me in the dark. Good Luck
