arguing
By CLF

Clip to ScrapBook
I feel that nothing productive will come of your efforts if the girls are that argumentative. Assuming this is at recess, I would separate them immediately and tell them that they may talk to you when they have calmed down
and can talk politely. If they start in again, I would separate them again until they can take turns and speak politely. Insist that they take turns speaking and not interrupt each other. ( Assure the 2nd speaker that they will have a turn which gives them time to collect their thoughts )I would try to settle all issues outside the classroom and NOT let them carry it inside. Usually they
are blowing problems out of proportion to the real issue. I tell kids they do not have to agree with each other, BUT they do have to be polite. If someone is not cooperating they can choose to not play with them that day, but I will not tolerate rude behavior. Sometimes they just need to air their feelings politely and then agree to let it go. They may have to be taught to do this. Perhaps you could do some role playing with the whole class discussing polite alternatives.
