polit. cartoons
By Tia

Clip to ScrapBook
I think it all depends on the cartoon and what point is being made. I made some copies out of a workbook that another teacher had last year. It contained some good "political" cartoons. ie:
kids making fun of mandated
school uniforms and in the pic, they are dressed alike anyway;a kid watching TV and the announcer is stressing, "Buy now!"--kid clicks the channel and says, "Bye now."; Endangered Species: spotted owl, whooping crane, picture of polite young man. Mostly, the book has copies of famous paintings and statues. Each page asks questions of picture to get kids thinking. There is also a writing
prompt at the bottom of the page. It might be helpful--from what I have here, the title is:
101 Picture Prompts to Spark Super Writing by Scholastic Professional Books

good luck!
