Lesson Plans
By Renee

Clip to ScrapBook
At my school, we have to have lesson plans turned in on Friday afternoon before we leave the building. They keep them in a big file in the office under each person's name and the principal does check them. We are a very
large school, but I guess she makes that one of her duties because I have heard people got e-mails about missing plans. She wants to make sure we are covered in case of an audit or other type visit. I know we are having a DEC visit this year and they will look at plans. I can't believe your principal doesn't want them.

I personally could not stay on track and remember what I needed

to cover, had covered, need to reteach, etc. without having written plans on hand. Also, how do you cover your rear if you have to defend your teaching of certain skills ( if you have to)without written documentation of what you taught? Our state test this year is pass or be reatined and if the child fails 3 times the parent can appeal and call a committe. You can bet I'm making VERY detailed lesson plans in case I have to use them as documentation. It's just too dangerous to "fly by the seat of your pants."
