Roald Dahl has the most hilarious read alouds I have ever done. They are violent and very gross and kids totally love them. Read The BFG if you dare!! His autobiography Boy is quite interesting as well for older kids. I have second grade and every year I read The Wizard of OZ. They invariably prefer the book to the Hollywood version!
