observation
By Cathy

Clip to ScrapBook
Marissa,

Good for you! Obviously this observer couldn't find any major discipline problems going on in your classroom and simply felt the need to find something for you to work on. It is sad that this person felt the
need to criticize. Some people! Give them a little bit of power and they go crazy! If I were an observer in your classroom, I'd look around to make sure that all students were actively engaged in what they were doing. If you were doing a whole group lesson, I'd look to see that all eyes were on you and that they were following along with your directions. Even if some of them weren't,
you'd probably catch it and get the student(s) back to task. This is what a good disciplinarian does. We are not perfect and kids certainly aren't either. Good luck dealing with this person in future observations. Maybe before the next one, you can sit down with this person and ask what he or she will be looking for. Cathy
