Another Hundreds Day Activity
By Mary

Clip to ScrapBook
I have not done this, but plan on doing it for Hundreds Day this year:
The Heifer International Project:
Heifer International is an organization which gives animals to families around the world. Gifts of cows, water
buffalo, goats, rabbits, chicks, geese, ducks, pigs, goats, sheep and llamas are given to poor families in other countries. The families are taught how to care for the animal and these animals provide food and/or income for these families. The big animals are already pregnant when they arrive, and when the animal gives birth the family is to give its offspring to another family in their
village. For Hundreds Day I will have each child bring in 100 pennies. They will count them and exchange pennies for dimes, and dimes for dollars. Then the kids will go to the Heifer International web site designed especially for children to find out which animal they can buy for a family. The web site for kids for Heifer International is: http://www.readtofeed.org. The main web site for this organization is www.heifer.org

At Christmas I asked parents to donate to this organization in my name instead of sending a gift.I am pleased to say that I received half a cow, a goat, half a llama, and two flocks of chicks from my kids and their families.
