New Teacher Gift Ideas

I had a very close friend complete her teaching degree this December and would like to get her a graduation gift that is practicle and meaningfull. I have worked only with older students and really don't know what an elementary school teacher just starting off would need. Are there any memberships to teaching organizations or clubs perhaps? I like the idea of Walmart and book store gift certificates, but how do I make it clear I am trying to help her start her classroom career?
