I'm not sure where you are teachinb but I teach a grade 6 class in Victoria, BC. At the start of the year we (my team of 4 grade 6 teachers) are starting a unit on "Bon homme Carnival" a winter celebration from Quebec. It will touch on culture and history as well as the French Language. As a culminating activity we might plan a carnival at the school and invite younger grades to participate.
