Writing
By Debbie

Clip to ScrapBook
Hi Brooke,
Are you using a Writer's Workshop format? Just as with Reader's WS, it's important that students do lots of writing on continuous pieces. That means allowing the children to choose their own topics for the most part, having writing folders with works in progress to revisit as you introduce mini lessons and using what they're learning as readers to help them as writers.
There are several wonderful professional resources to help you with Writer's workshop-procedural lessons, craft lessons, etc. See Heinemann and Stenhouse publishers for possibilities. If you'd like suggestions on specific titles, please email or post again. Best of luck. ;-D
