Interesting. We pesenly have a major contoversy in our 1st grade as to whether 1st graders belongin the gifted program or not. There are aprox. 6-7 very bright, reading above grade level children in question. The parents and classroom teachers want them tested. The gifted teacher doesn't feel 1st graders belong in the program and is trying to talk the parents out of testing.
Does anyone have further thoughts of this type of contorversy. I feel we need to be very careful at this age. Take the whole child into consideration, not just test scores.
