The Chain Game
By EA

Clip to ScrapBook
Those sound like great ideas! One more idea to add to it is "The Chain Game." You make a set of cards so that each student in your class has one or two cards at his/her desk. On the front side of the card, there is a large
number (ie: 36) -- the solution to a multiplication problem. On the back side of the card, there is a new problem. ie: "Who has 8 x 5?"

The game begins with one student reading the front of his/her card and then flipping it over to the back. For example, the first student might have the number 14 on one side. He would say, "I have 14." Then he would flip his card over and ask,

"Who has 9 x 4?" The student in the class holding the "36" card would then reply, "I have 36." He'd flip his card over and read, "Who has 8 x 5?" The object of the game is for the class to work together as a team and go through the "chain" of cards as quickly as possible. We set time goals, and everyone is a winner!

I hope this all makes sense. Please let me know if you have any questions. Good luck!
