Clip to ScrapBook
One of the books I use is Chrysanthemum by Henkes. If you're not familiar with it, it is a about a little girl mouse who has a very special name..Chrysanthemum, and she loves her name...until she goes to school and others start to make fun of it.
As I read the story, I have a piece of paper with a smiling face on it. Every time there is a "put down" in the story, I tear a piece of the smiling face off. At the end, of course, the face is in pieces, and we talk about how, even if you try to glue the pieces back together again, it will never look the same.
Even K's have no problem getting the message!
