teaching at 44
By Yvonne

Clip to ScrapBook
I began my teaching career at age 30. I left for a while (11 years!) to attempt a career in graphic arts. All those years, teaching never left my mind - whenever I came across something interesting, I would think, I need
to tell my kids about that. I finally went back to teaching at the age of 44. I don't think there is another career more exhausting - I work from 7 am to 5 pm at school and then take work home with me to work on for another 3-4 hours. And most of my Saturday is also devoted to my job. But it is so rewarding! Where else can you be introduced to a child who can barely speak English, let
alone read or write, and after 9 months see amazing progress and know that you were the one who made those changes in at least one person's life. I will never sit in a desk behind a computer for 8 hours again!
