Nancy's right... By Mrs. O

I always have the students spend the last few minutes of the day picking up, but I do spend additional time after they leave to make sure that the classroom looks especially good. Some teachers do not require the students| to pick up at all so it is hard to get them to do a satisfactory job cleaning. I pick up the slack because the way the classroom is left is a reflection on me. If I find a pencil on the floor, I do pick it up. I probably wouldn't if I was the regular teacher, but I simply don't want the teacher to hear about a messy room from the janitor or see it for her/himself. Besides, in the schools | | I sub in the papers and pencils wouldn't be thrown away. I say, leave the classroom looking better than how you find it. It doesn't take long and it makes you look good!
