Yes, yes, yes. I use alphabet books with third graders (and I would with fourth too, if I taught fourth). Students can make their own picture books too. Use them for parts of speech, new vocabulary, alliteration, the possibilities are endless. Here is a list of alphabet books at the site below.....
I also have an ABC book (can't remember exact title or author) but it is of beautiful photos of things in the community that are shaped like the letters. It is my favorite!! Maybe they could go on a scavenger hunt for letters in and around the school building after reading this book.

Like I said, the possibilities are endless, so YES use them with your third and fourth graders!
