holiday craft
By Robin

Clip to ScrapBook
For the frame, we've taken oaktag and made a dreidel and a simple Christmas ornament pattern, depending on what holiday the child celebrates. We've also used a schoolhouse pattern. The center of the pattern is cut out for
the picture, which is inserted later. Then, the frame pattern is covered with pasta of the child's choice. I spray paint the frmaes gold, and then insert the picture. I put the date and grade on the back. Very showy and inexpensive. You can also make a simple frame using popsicle sticks or tongue depressors. The children can gluecraft foam cutouts that you can buy at a craft or teacher
supply store. Oriental Trading has craft kits for this, as well. As for your holiday craft, we make stocking reindeer from a wire hanger, one leg of a pair of pantyhouse, a pompom, wiggly eyes and a bow. Stretch the hanger to look like a baseball diamond with the hook of the hanger on top. Stretch the leg of the panty hose over the hanger, and tie it on. Trim the leg if necessary. Make ears for the reindeer by having the child trace his or her hands in green construction paper. We also do a pair of holly leaves to glue on the ears. Glue the eyes, pompom nose and bow on the bottom. Use a jingle bell on the bow if desired. These are very showy, and inexpensive. Enjoy!
